The Daltex team were very excited to help a great charity in the BBC’s DIY SOS Strictly Special!
The programme aired this August Bank Holiday and despite the weekend washout, everyone’s efforts to transform an old, tired space into a thriving theatre for children of all abilities has brought warmth and a ray of sunshine to everyone who watched.
True colours theatre charity was founded in 2014.The theatre and charity runs an inclusive theatre school for children and young people, many of whom have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, physical and life limiting conditions and various mental health issues.

This was a big project … over 400sqm of resin bound was required to make the outside space safe and easily accessible for wheelchair access.
Daltex Bespoke blend Cappuccino was chosen along with Daltex Performance UVR resin to create a stunning uniform stable surface.
And to add that extra bit of magic, the DIY SOS designer decided to add some Strictly golden glitter to the surface!
The resin bound paths are the perfect solution for children to safely access and enjoy the sensory garden which is full of colour and scent.
David Atkinson and his team Bespoke Resin Driveways by NSS kindly donated their time to complete the installation for free and we joined forces to get things completed, battling other trades and the weather.
It was a hectic week, but we found time to learn a few dance steps from the stars of Strictly Come Dancing. Thank goodness the trowelling skills were better than the footwork!
Of course, the end result is amazing but the highlight of working on a project like this is always seeing how happy the kids are with their new space.
We hope the True Colours Theatre loves their new theatre and garden for many years to come.
If you missed the episode, don’t worry you can catch it again on BBC iPlayer now.
