To help you get started…
Our Resin Bound Aftercare & Maintenance Guide covers all the key actions required to maintain your resin bound surface. However some of our top tips are listed below for your convenience.
Top tips for regular cleaning
Sweep regularly: Leaves and debris can accumulate quickly, especially during autumn. Use a stiff garden brush to keep the surface clear and to prevent moss growth.
Wash periodically: A pressure washer is your best friend for keeping your surface clean, but there are a few rules to follow. Use a fan jet nozzle, keep the water pressure below 150 bar, and maintain at least 200mm distance from the surface to avoid damage.
Dealing with weeds and moss
Weed control: Occasionally, windblown seeds might affix in surface gaps. A simple jetwash is normally enough to displace them.
Algae and moss: A build-up of algae or moss can make the surface slippery. Treat these areas with a moss and algae remover, following the product instructions carefully.
Managing stains and marks
Oil Stains: Address oil spots promptly by scrubbing with mild detergent and a stiff brush. Follow up with a good rinse using a pressure washer.
Concrete or cement marks: These can be more stubborn but can often be removed using a diluted hydrochloric acid solution or a cement remover. Always rinse thoroughly after application.
Preventing damage to your resin surface
Your resin bound driveway is strong, but it is important to protect it against unnecessary wear and tear. As well as regular cleaning, it’s also important to consider:
Heavy loads: Don’t place heavy skips or machinery directly on the surface. Use load-bearing planks to distribute weight evenly if needed.
Protect against spills: During home improvement projects, cover your resin surface to guard against potential stains from oil, cement, or solvents.
Tyre marks: Avoid turning the wheels while your vehicle is stationary on your resin bound driveway. The kneading or grinding action of stationary tyres - known as ‘dry turning’ - can cause lacerations on the surface of your driveway.
Sharp objects: Avoid dragging or placing sharp items, such as motorcycle stands or garden tools, directly on the surface.
By following these simple steps regularly , your resin bound driveway, patio or path should remain the envy of your neighbours!
